Everyone has dreams of flying. Dreams where you feel free and untethered, soaring through the clouds without a care in the world, looking down at everyone stuck to the earth. Sometimes I have dreams of flying underwater. In these dreams, I hang out deep underwater with cool ass dolphins and wise whales getting into all kinds of adventures. On a good night we fight sharks and squids. Other times we just go down to the ocean floor and chill out with weird bioluminescent creatures while they tell us tales of the old world when people lived underwater. Shoutout to Atlantis.
Blue Sky Black Death‘s makes music that sounds like those dreams. Their beats feel like you’re floating in a warm part of the ocean, but also have a nostalgia and melancholy built into them, which is perfect when you realize that wise old crab you were talking to in your dream probably became the main course at a Red Lobster in Colorado. RIP king crab, the game hasn’t been the same since you went back to the essence. For the latest installment of our mix series, we got the BSBD dudes to give us a collection of their favorite tracks. There’s some exclusives in here, some screwed renditions, and a lot of music to practice meditating too.
Some of you may recognize BSBD as the beatmakers behind the lions share of Nacho Picasso‘s awesome work, where their soundscapes provide a expansive backdrop for dude to go in on. If you’re a fan of Nacho, you already know what to expect on this album. If you don’t fuck with Nacho or talk to crustaceans in your dreams, check out this album as a very chill and emotional listening experience that’ll put you in the right mindspace to get work done, fly, or communicate with various sea creatures.
