New Kanye video featuring Rhianna (aka Ms. HeyHowYaDoin?SinceISawYaNakedPicturesACoupleWeeksAgo) for Paranoid, one of the better joints of the slow burner that is 808 and Heartbreaks.

Paranoid was one of the joints that immediately struck me on 808′s, the pulsing synth and the little dancing melody with the album concept and lyrics just made for a great song. But as usual with Kanye‘s output, dude is always tweaking shit and reinterpreting his work to match with his current aesthetic fixation (check the Vh1 Storytellers he did and see how he stripped Good Life down to sound like 808′s). 808′s was all about minimalism and beats he wrote in “2 weeks” but this redux version of Paranoid is much beefier and busy than the original. But, that’s whats up! The added synth stabs just make the whole thing sound so much more…well paranoid.
- Lovin the typography and overall old school horror feel of the whole joint. I can imagine when they compile dudes video work together it’s gonna be a pretty wild collection from japanesse futurism to 50′s pinup to modern runway to 50′s horror flicks to straight up out the box Hype Williams rap manual videos.
- The black and white, mixed with the heavy shadow work really reminds me of early animation, and how dark they were in terms of light and often content. In keeping with that, this feels alot like Subtle‘s trilogy of videos by SSSR from a couple years ago which utilized some awesome black and white low-fi animation and shadows. Peep game:
- Yo, how good is the usage of the driving in front of the projection screen bit? It’s one of those elements that immediately let you know what era of movie they were shooting for with this one. I wish cats would bring this back. Totally reminds me of A Clockwork Orange and this wild ass scene from Fellini‘s City Of Women (which has the ill Gino Soccio song in the background).
- Strictly for the fellas but, Ms.HeyHowYaDoin looks aight in the video. I’m glad they got that hairpeace to come down and obscure her big ole eighthead, cause sometimes that ish fucks me up honestly. That lingerie she has on…whats that Victoria’s Secret? Is that, an Apex™ boustier, she’s rocking? Go head girl, get that rebound swag up.
