Allegedly this is one of the songs from the Daft Punk score to Tron 2.0 and if it is, I just got way more excited for light cycle races. Update: This song is actually not by Daft Punk but instead by a dude named Pilotpriest out of Toronto. Either way its a pretty ill song, unfortunately I can’t seem to find any releases for this dude beyond a glorified single for a song called Zipper. Gotta get the boys from marketing on that one my dude.
The first couple of minutes of this track are just an oscillating noise and some phonemes just bouncing around sounding super dark and mean, making me think that this was from the score to a hard sci-fi flick and not a sequel to a movie about a dude who gets sucked into an arcade game1. This joint somehow manages to sound like a MORE intense version of Geogaddi era Boards of Canada mixed with some of the minimal atonal work that the god Clint Mansell did on the Moon soundtrack last year. If this is the direction Daft Punk is going in with this soundtrack it might end up being one of the best soundtracks of the coming year.
End of line.
1No disrespect to Tron, it’s an amazing visual movie but the story is a little lacking.
